First Time Using a Gift Card? How to Redeem & Book
By Sacred Barbers | October 2, 2026
I hear it all the time: you’ve got a gift card and you’re excited, but you don’t want to feel awkward checking in or paying. Totally normal. A lot of first-timers come in after hearing we’re very friendly and run a clean shop, and they just want the simple steps spelled out. That’s exactly what this guide is for. I’ll show you how to check your card info, how to book, what to say at check-in, and how tipping works so you’re not guessing at the counter.
Quick reassurance: A gift card is just prepaid payment. Bring the physical card or the emailed code, tell me you’re using it when you book, and you’ll get the exact same service you’d get paying any other way.
Before you book with a Gift Card: 3 things I want you to check
First, grab the card or the email and make sure you’ve got the code handy. If you’re using an e-gift, I recommend saving the email so you can pull it up quickly at check-in. If it’s a physical card, toss it in your wallet the night before. Small move, but it saves stress.
Second, check the balance if you can. People often assume it covers everything, then realize they want to add something on. Our gift cards are $50 and can be redeemed for any of our services, so it’s easy to apply it toward what you actually want that day.
Third, book early if you’re trying to lock in a specific day. Weekends can fill fast in Sacramento, and event weekends around Arden Fair and Cal Expo tend to get busy too. If you’re coming from Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, North Highlands, Foothill Farms, or Rio Linda, booking ahead keeps you from making the drive just to find limited options.
Booking note: When you reserve, mention you’re paying with a gift card. That’s it. No long explanation needed.
Redeeming your Gift Card at Sacred Barbers, step by step (no awkward counter moment)
When you arrive at our North Sacramento shop near Marconi Avenue and the Del Paso Heights area, I’ll get you checked in like normal. If it’s your first visit and you searched “barbers near me” or “hair cut near me, ” I know you’re mainly wondering if you’ll feel comfortable. You will. People describe our vibe as welcoming and laid back, and they talk about scheduling being easy, which is exactly what I want for you too.
At check-in, tell me you’re using a gift card. If you have a physical card, I’ll take the card and apply it during checkout. If you’ve got an e-gift, just pull up the email and show the code. You don’t have to print anything. And if you’re booking an after-work slot because you’re commuting on Business 80 and cutting over on Marconi Avenue, I’ll keep the redemption part quick so you can get on with your evening.
Then you get the same appointment flow as everyone else. I’ll confirm what you’re in for that day, and I’ll ask a couple questions so we’re on the same page before any cutting starts. If you’re not sure what you want, that’s okay. A lot of people come in knowing what they don’t want. Tell me that, and we’ll narrow it down together.
“Scheduling is always easy. Shop looks cool and vibes are always awesome.”
, a recent first-time visitor
At checkout, I’ll apply the gift card amount toward your total. If there’s a remaining balance, you can cover the difference with another form of payment. If there’s money left on the gift card after your visit, you can keep using it on future appointments. It’s meant to be flexible, not a one-and-done.
Tipping with a Gift Card: plan this part ahead
This is the part that trips people up, so I’ll be direct. Tipping rules can vary depending on how the gift card was purchased and how checkout is set up. If you want zero surprises, bring cash for gratuity. Cash tips go straight to the barber and keep it simple.
If you’d rather tip on a card, tell me before I ring you out and I’ll walk you through the options available that day. I’d rather answer it up front than have you standing there doing mental math.
My honest recommendation: If the gift card is covering your service, bring cash for the tip. It keeps you moving and it keeps things clear.
Sending an e-gift in Sacramento: fast, personal, and actually useful
A gift card works best when it’s easy to use. If you’re sending a digital gift, keep the message simple and include one line that helps the person book confidently, like “Use this for any service at Sacred Barbers.” Our gift cards can be redeemed for any service, so the recipient isn’t boxed into one specific thing.
If you want to time delivery for a birthday or a last-minute holiday save, schedule it so it lands when the recipient can actually see it. And if they’re the type who searches “hair salon near me” because they’re comparing options, that flexibility matters. They can pick what fits their hair and their routine.
People also use gift cards for family haircuts. We see a lot of parents bringing their kids in, and the card makes it feel like a treat without overthinking it. If you’re already headed toward Arden Fair or Cal Expo, we’re an easy stop in the Marconi and Del Paso Heights area.
Lost Gift Card or missing email code: what to do next
It happens. Emails get deleted. Physical cards get bent, lost, or accidentally thrown away. If that’s you, reach out to the shop with whatever you still have: order confirmation, proof of purchase, the email address used, or the approximate purchase date. The more you can share, the faster I can look into it.
Replacement and reissuing depends on being able to verify the original purchase details. If you’re holding a card that’s damaged but readable, bring it in anyway. Sometimes we can still pull what we need to apply it correctly.
And one more practical tip: if you’re traveling in from Carmichael, Rio Linda, or North Highlands, snap a photo of the back of the card or save the e-gift email in a folder. That one move prevents most “I swear I had it” moments at check-in.
If you’re exploring other services too
A gift card can go toward any service you book with me. If you want ideas beyond a standard cut, take a look at additional services at our North Sacramento shop.
A couple of insider tips that make your first visit feel easy
If you’re new to Sacred Barbers and you’re a little unsure, here’s what I see work best. Book the time you really want, then put “using gift card” in your notes. Show up with the code pulled up already. If you’re bringing a kid in, it helps to tell me what’s worked and what hasn’t in past haircuts, even if it’s just “he hates clippers near the ears.”
People become regulars here fast because they get consistent results across different barbers. I’ve had clients tell me they’ve gotten multiple haircuts from different barbers and stayed impressed each time, and that’s a big deal when you’re trying a new spot for the first time.
“Love this place! Sacred Barbers has a phenomenal atmosphere and everyone is always very chill.”

If you’ve been searching for a barber you can stick with, or you’re tired of rolling the dice when you type “barbers near me, ” bring that gift card in and let’s make the first visit simple. If you have questions before you drive over to Marconi Avenue, call or email and I’ll help you sort out the details.
